What a Year..

The year has finally finished for Bundaberg Sugar Team, and what a year it's been!

The girls did a fantastic job, with Individual Stage wins, State Titles in Queensland and Victoria and an overall Tour win.

In the final wash up from Cycling Australia, Bundaberg Sugar ended up 3rd in the NRS Teams and with Loren Rowney 2nd in the Individual Classification..how good is that?

3rd against the government funded Institutes of Sport from each state, the National Talent Identification Program plus other Trade based teams..fantastic result! We were only a single result away from winning overall, regrettably a BAD Canberra Tour ruined our chances, but the girls showed grim determination to try and steal the thunder from the other top teams.

As SBS reported on their Cycling Central ; "Exciting Newcomers Bundaberg Sugar, 3rd in the NRS"... I suppose after nearly 4 years we have graduated to "newcomers", but most of all the core group showed that they are a force to be reckoned with in any company on any day.

This great year was not possible without the dedication of the riders, Wayne Northey our "super swannie", great team supporters and importantly our team partners.

Our team partners:

Bundaberg Sugar

Triple Play Clothing

SRAM

Specialized Bicycles

These team partners been unwavering of their support not only of the Bundaberg Sugar Team but also of women's cycling and I would ask you to support these companies in their endeavors, just as they support us.

With the end of the National Road Series for 2011, the planning for 2012 is under way. We are currently completing negotiations for an exciting upgrade of our whole program. As Women's Cycling enters a new era of professionalism in 2012, I am confident that "newcomers" Bundaberg Sugar will be in the forefront...

Thank you all for your support both for 2011, but for many also for 2010, 2009 and 2008!

Yours in cycling
